Hillcats Earn Postseason Soccer Honors

Okla. - A trio of Rogers State men’s soccer players earned
All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors after reaching the postseason for the
fifth consecutive season.
Senior Henrique Sousa headlined the group, being
named first team all-conference. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native completed the
season with seven goals and four assists. He scored three game-winning goals
and played in 18 contests, starting 17 times.
Senior Ryan Coffman and Freshman Mohammed Shaban
registered second team all-conference honors. Coffman anchored the Hillcat
defense while compiling a two goals and dishing out a pair of assists. The
Mansfield, Texas native was a three-year starter for the Cats as he played in
18 games and started in 17 matches as a senior.
Shaban, a true freshman from Tulsa, Okla., burst
onto the scene as he led RSU in scoring with eight goals and dished out two
assists. He fired three game-winning goals and played in all 19 games, starting
in 15 contests.
Lubbock Christian’s Billy Forbes took
home the league’s Player of the Year, Offensive MVP, Newcomer of the Year and
First Team All-Conference honors. USAO’s Scott Parkinson was named Defensive
MVP, John-Ramses Thomas of Wayland Baptist was named Goalkeeper of the Year and
John Brown Head Coach John Miglarese earned 2011 SAC Coach of the Year.
Rogers State ended their season in the SAC
Tournament semifinals. The Hillcats finished the year with a record of 11-8-1,
5-4-1 in conference play.
