Felipe Named SAC Runner of the Week
Brenda Felipe grabbed SAC runner of the week honors after a fourth place finish at the StampedeCLAREMORE, Okla.-Rogers State sophomore Brenda Felipe has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Sept. 10-16.
Felipe, who hails from Poteau, Okla., finished fourth at the Southern Stampede. She covered the five kilometers in 18:50 for the highest finish by a Hillcat at the Stampede. RSU claimed second in the 23 team field.
Felipe burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2011, winning the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship and being named RSU Runner of the Year. A national qualifier, Felipe finished 53rd with the ninth best finish by any freshman at the NAIA National Championship.
The Rogers State cross country team will return to action on September 29 at 8 a.m. as the Cats travel to the Cowboy Jamboree, hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
