Seven Spot for Hillcat Women at OCU Stars Fall Golf Classic

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – While there was movement occurring at the OCU Stars Fall Classic Tuesday the Rogers State Hillcat women’s golf team held steady at seventh place at the Lincoln Park Golf Course.
RSU shot rounds of 333 and 322 for a tournament total of 655 and seventh place finish at the 6,001 yard, par 72 course. The Cats sat just seven strokes behind sixth-place Oklahoma Baptist tied with Northwood (Texas) in seventh. At the end of Tuesday RSU finished eleven strokes ahead of the Lady Bison as OBU sat in eighth place.
Leading the Hillcats was Whitney Hocutt as the junior finished tied for 14th with a 157 total. Entering the final round of the two-round tournament the Claremore, Okla. native was tied for ninth with a four over par 76. Hocutt shot nine-over 81 in Tuesday’s round as the only Cat to shoot worst in day two.
Cecilie Nordahl moved up ten spots from tied for 28th to tie for 18th as the sophomore shot six over par 78 Tuesday for a 159 total after an 81 in the first round. Freshman Raquel Trevino posted scores of 84-82—166 tied for 35th.
Chelsea Burney improved in the second round by eleven strokes from Monday’s round of 92 as the freshman finished with a 173 total and 49th place finish. Kelsey Stuever rounded out the Hillcats as she tied for 56th with rounds of 92-87—179.
Lubbock Christian claimed the team title with rounds of 301-303—604 nine strokes ahead of second place SCAD-Savannah. Oklahoma City entered the final round in second place but a 313 round dropped the host Stars to third place with a tournament total of 617.
The Lady Chaps Anna Schopp shot even par 72 and four-under 68 to earn medalists honors with a tournament total of 140. SCAD-Savannah’s Alazane Urizar finished second with a 145 total, five strokes behind first place Schopp.
Rogers State returns to the course October 29-30 in Glenwood, Ark. at the Lady Reddie Invitational hosted by Henderson State at Glenwood Country Club.
