Hillcat AcademicsThe Rogers State University Student-Athlete Academic Development program is designed to support Hillcat athletes as they strive for success in the classroom and reach their ed ucational and career goals. The program provides academic support such as advisement, subject tutors, and learning groups for each RSU student-athlete. Study Sessions are designed specifically for each athletic program and student-athletes are given the opportunity to work with tutors trained in their particular area of academic study. It is the goal of the SAAD program to help each athlete grow into a responsible adult as they become upper-classmen and take initiative to be personally responsible fore their education and future. The Student-Athlete Academic Development program, led by Jared Hood (pictured left), will be there every step of the way for each athlete to ensure they are pursuing a degree that will support their personal and career goals. SPRING 2008 HILLCAT ACADEMIC HONOREES RSU MALE ACADEMIC STUDENT-ATHLETE Blake Kelley - Baseball 
Kelley, a 2006 Oologah High School graduate, earned a 3.8 grade point average for the spring semester in upper division business courses. He was named to the Dean's Honor Roll for his efforts and has maintained a 3.8 overall GPA through his first four semesters. Kelley is working towards a degree in Business Administration with a Management option. The former Mustang also enjoyed a standout sophomore season on the diamond. Kelley led the Hillcats with 13 home runs and was named to the all conference, all-region and conference gold glove teams while lead RSU to a 35-16 record. RSU FEMALE ACADEMIC STUDENT-ATHLETE Marty Barry - Rodeo 
Barry, a 2005 Advance R-IV graduate in Advance, MO, went above and beyond for the Hillcat Rodeo team. She earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the spring semester while working toward a Bachelor’s of Technology in Applied Technology. Barry completed her sixth semester with an overall 3.91 grade-point average. The Advance, MO native was named to the President’s Honor Roll for her exceptional academic performance for the spring 2008 semester.
FALL 2007 HILLCAT ACADEMIC HONOREES RSU MALE ACADEMIC STUDENT-ATHLETE Tyler Whitaker - Baseball 
Whitaker, a 2004 Collinsville graduate, enters his second season as a pitcher for the Hillcat baseball team this spring. This fall he completed his seventh semester pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology with the Medical/Molecular option, all the while maintaining an impressive 4.0 grade-point average. During the fall semester of 2007 Whitaker completed 14 hours of Biology, Chemistry, and Health Science and was named to the President’s Honor Roll for his notable scholastic performance. He totaled four wins on the mound for the Hillcats in 2007 and is slated as a key member of the starting rotation in 2008. RSU FEMALE ACADEMIC STUDENT-ATHLETE Breck Muller - Women's Basketball 
Muller, a 2004 Oklahoma Union graduate, is an intregal piece of the first ever Hillcat Women’s Basketball team. She earned all A’s for the fall semester while completing 14 hours of upper division Biology and Chemistry. Muller is persuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology with the Medical/Molecular option and recently completed her seventh semester with an overall 3.94 grade-point average. The South Coffeyville native was named to the President’s Honor Roll for her outstanding academic performance for the fall 2007 semester. She started 15 of the first 21 games for the Hillcats this season. Muller leads the team in free throw percentage and is fourth in assists. |
