Justynn Hammond

About: Hammond returns to the Hill after earning SAC honorable mention recognition last season as a junior. He led the Cats
in steals and assists as he started 20 of the 31 games he appeared in at point guard. He joined RSU following an impressive
2009-10 season at Paris Junior College. Playing under head coach Tom Sheuberth, he averaged 14 points, six rebounds and five
assists while leading the Dragons to a 26-7 record and a conference championship. He earned second team region 14 and NJCAA
Honorable Mention All-American honors. Hammond began his collegiate career at Portland State University when the Vikings
went 22-10 and reached the NCAA Tournament, losing to the Kansas Jayhawks. Justynn is the cousin of NBA player Drew
Gooden. Hammond said he chose RSU because “the school is expanding and has a great communication program.”

Barkley on Hammond: “Justynn is a very unique and versatile guard at six-foot-five. Justynn is able to handle the basketball and play the wing and if asked could play a little bit of a forward position. He has a great feel for the game and has a high basketball IQ.”
